In some states, it is necessary to setup and You may need to charge customers a sales tax. X Dispatch has built in functionality to accomplish just that.
Step-by-step guide
Enable the global option to charge sales tax

Setup the following options:

- State: State in which tax should apply. If both addresses on order are in a taxable state, sales tax is automatically added.
- Desciption: Detailed description of tax. This description is automatically inserted as item's comment on order.
- Sales Tax Item: This is the item automatically added to order when sales tax is applicable. It functions similarly as a standard surcharge.
- Tax Rate %: Percentage of tax rate.

This can be done by customer, order type, and items.
Set Up Sales Tax
Enable sales tax in Global Options.
Div - In the main toolbar select Options.
- Go to the Misc tab.
Check the box next to Enable sales tax processing.
Create a sales tax item. See Items.
Div - Go to Maintenance > Items.
Go to the last empty row and enter an ID, Description, UOM, and GL Account.
Tip title Quick Tip Check the box under Separate Item charges for online ordering to display the sales tax when placing an order online.
- Click the save icon in the toolbar.
Add a sales tax. See Sales Tax.
Div - Go to Maintenance > Sales Tax.

Taxed Items
Items are included in sales tax if Taxable is checked. See Items.
- Go to Maintenance > Items.
- Check the Taxable checkbox for all items to be included in the tax calculation
