Business units are applied to billable or payable records in X Dispatch, for accounting purposes (see Business Units Accounting Features) and for visibility separation inside X Dispatch (see Select Business Units). Example: If an item is set to a GL Code of 'Sales', and the customer is set to a Business Unit with a GLPrefix of 'PHX-', the line item's GL Code would be exported as 'PHX-Sales'.

AR AccountARAccountName of the Accounts Receivable account in the accounting package used to import invoice data.

Note

If the GL Code has a classification set in Maintenance > GL Accounts, this value will be added to the beginning of the "Class" value during the export of invoice data.  See GL Accounts (Desktop Operations App).

How to Add a Business Unit

  1. Go to Maintenance > Business Units.
  2. Click the Image Removed button.

Alternate Steps

  1. Click the arrow next to the New button, or press Alt + N keys. 
  2. Select Business Unit.

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the list of business units and add the new business unit in the empty row.
  2. Click the save icon Image Added in the toolbar.

How to Edit a Business Unit

  1. Go to Maintenance > Business Units.

  2. Click the business unit Edit the field(s) you would like to edit or right-click the row and select Edit.

    InfoThe right-click menu option Open in New Window will open the edit form in a window that can be moved around.

How to Delete a Business Unit

Click the business unit you would like to delete.

Note

A business unit cannot be deleted if it is associated with another record (e.g. customer, human resource, etc.), or below error message will be received.

  1. Go to Maintenance > Business Units.
  2. Select the business unit you would like to delete by clicking on the grey box to the left of the BusinessUnitID column, the row will be highlighted blue.
  3. Click the delete icon Image Added in the toolbar or press the delete button.
  4. Click the save icon Image Added in the toolbar.
