In some states, it is necessary to setup and charge customers a sales tax. X Dispatch has built in functionality to accomplish just that.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Enable the global option to charge sales tax

  2. Setup the sales tax rate. Go to Maintenance > Sales Tax
  3. Setup the following options:

    • State: State in which tax should apply.  If both addresses on order are in a taxable state, sales tax is automatically added.
    • Desciption: Detailed description of tax.  This description is automatically inserted as item's comment on order.
    • Sales Tax Item: This is the item automatically added to order when sales tax is applicable. It functions similarly as a standard surcharge.
    • Tax Rate %: Percentage of tax rate.
  4. Choose which items to consider taxable.  Go to Mainteance > Items and check the Taxable checkbox for all items to be included in the tax calculation
