The functionality to collect GPS data has improved by refactoring services to use the native Cordova plugin for Nextstop 3 which provides increased frequency and accuracy for our GPS data display across our applications.
X Tracking, the Operations Visual Dispatch Board, Rapidship Driver Tracking, and the dispatch board GPS data will provide real GPS driver tracking when using Nextstop 3.4 or newer.
If low battery settings are enabled, is GPS collection affected?
This is controlled by the mobile OS.
How often does Nextstop 3 send collected GPS data to the Operations App?
The GPS data is sent to the Operations App whenever it is collected by Nextstop 3 on the mobile device.
- For Android devices on Nextstop 3.4 or newer, location data is sent every 30 seconds.
- For iOS devices on Nextstop 3.4 or newer, location data is sent every 10 meters or every 50 meters if traveling at a faster street or highway speed.
