X Internet Broadcast Message feature for modern browsers

The X Internet Broadcast Message feature requires a modern web browser in order to allow javascript to update the status bar.

Internet Explorer

The X Internet site needs to be added to the Trusted Sites Security Zone, or the javascript permission needs to be enabled on the current Security Zone.

Add the X Internet site to Trusted Sites:

  1. Go to "Tools>Internet Options".
  2. Click on the "Security" tab.
  3. Select "Trusted Sites" and click on "Sites".
  4. Enter the X Internet site in the text box and click "Add".

Add the javascript permission to the current Security Zone.

  1. Go to "Tools>Internet Options".
  2. Click on the "Security" tab and select the Security Zone that X Internet is currently associated with.

  3. Click on "Custom level".

  4. Scroll down to find "Allow status bar updates via script" and select "Enable" and click "OK".

Mozilla Firefox

In Firefox, there is a javascript permission that can be set.

  1. Go to "Tools > Options".
  2. Click on the "Content" tab, check "Enable JavaScript" and click "Advanced".
  3. Check "Change status bar text" and click "OK".
