Order Type - Business Line

Found within Maintenance - Order Type, Business Line effects the time window for a pickup or delivery of an order.

By opening the dropdown box, a list of 6 Business Lines will be displayed.

Selecting the Business Line 'On Demand' will display a 'Pickup within' setting and a 'Deliver within' setting.

The value for 'Pickup within' is the time (in hours) that a driver will have to pick up the order before it is considered late, from the time the order is entered into the system.

The value for 'Deliver within' is the time (in hours) that a driver will have to deliver the order before it is considered late, from the time the order is entered into the system (not amount of time from the 'Pickup within' time.

The 'Pickup Within' and 'Deliver within deadlines can be adjusted to allow more time for long trips.

In this example, a driver would be given an extra minute for every mile over 10 miles before the order would be considered late.

By checking 'Prevent order type when distance is greater than X miles', this Order Type will not be allowed for any order that is a distance greater than the set value. If the distance for a pickup and delivery is greater than the set value, a different Order Type must be used

Selecting the Business Line 'Scheduled' or 'Distribution' will display a 'Ready by' and a 'Deliver by' setting.

Unlike 'On-Demand', this is the actual time of day (in military time) that the order will be ready, or needs to be delivered by.

In this example, an order would be ready by 8 am, and would need to be delivered by 4:45 pm, the same day.

Selecting the Business Line 'Freight', 'Line haul', or 'Air' will grey out the 'Ready by' and 'Deliver by' settings, and any order using this Order Type will not automatically calculate time windows.

By opening the dropdown box for 'Deliver', a list of 6 entries are displayed.

This list is a set of rules to determine how the system will treat an order that is to be picked up or delivered outside the Hours of Operation.

An order can still be placed outside the Hours of Operation, as long as the pickup or delivery is within the Hours of Operation.

'Today No Rollover' means that if the time window for the delivery is outside of the Hours of Operation, the order will not be able to be placed.

'Today With Rollover' means that if the time window for the delivery is outside the Hours of Operation, the order may be placed, but will allow the delivery window to carry over to the next day.

'Next Day' would give the driver a full day in addition to the time window, to complete the delivery.

'Next Weekday' functions the same as 'Next Day', but orders placed on Friday will be due for delivery on Monday.

'Two Weekdays' and 'Three Weekdays' function the same as 'Next Weekday' but allow for two or three weekdays in addition to the time window, to complete the delivery.
