The functionality to collect GPS data has improved by refactoring services to use the native Cordova plugin for the Driver App which provides increased frequency and accuracy for our GPS data display across our applications.
When Location Services are enabled for drivers, real-time GPS for driver tracking will be provided in X Tracking, Visual Dispatch Board, Rapidship Driver Tracking, and the dispatch board when using the Driver App 3.4 or newer.
If low battery settings are enabled, is GPS collection affected?
This is controlled by the mobile OS.
How often does the Driver App send collected GPS data to the Operations App?
The GPS data is sent to the Operations App whenever it is collected by Nextstop 3 on the mobile device.
- For Android devices on the Driver App 3.4 or newer, location data is sent every 30 seconds.
- For iOS devices on the Driver App 3.4 or newer, location data is sent every 10 meters or every 50 meters if traveling at a faster street or highway speed.
