The Permissions section is where you can edit and view X Dispatch permission sets, which are used for most sections within X Dispatch. For example, if you have a CSR that needs access to Order Entry and Dispatch functionality, but you don’t want them to have access to accounting or driver settlements, you can deselect those specific permissions on the CSR's permission set. 

To access Permissions go to Maintenance > Permissions. 

  

User Permission Templates

The baseline database comes with 4 templates: Accountant Template, CSR Template, Dispatcher Template, and Manager Template. You can create new templates by following the How to Add a New Permission Set or Template steps below.

Quick Tip

When creating new templates, name the template permissions for the position in your company and add "Template" to the end for the Permissions for field. For example "Route Dispatch Template".

Cloud customers should add their four-digit customer ID to the end. For example "Route Dispatch Template-9999".

How to Add a New Permission Set or Template

If you are a Cloud customer, you will add a new permission set or template to create new X Dispatch users from the Cloud Client window under Resources. See How to Correctly Add or Delete a User Login from Your Account in Cloud Client.

  1. Go to Maintenance > Permissions.
  2. Click the green add  button on the top right of X Dispatch.

Alternate steps:

  1. Click the arrow next to the New button.
  2. Click Permissions.

Additional Alternate steps:

  1. Go to Maintenance > Permissions.
  2. Click the New button in the toolbar.

Copy a User's Permission

  1. Go to Maintenance Permissions.
  2. Right-click on the user, you would like to copy, the User ID will be highlighted in blue, and select Copy
  3. Enter a new unique user ID and password. You'll need to re-enter the new password again to confirm it.

  


How to Edit a Permission Set or Template

  1. Go to Maintenance Permissions.
  2. Click the user you would like to edit or right-click the row and select Edit. 

    The right-click menu option Open in New Window will open the edit form in a window that can be moved around.

  3. Click the save button at the bottom.
  4. In the X Dispatch top menu go to Tools > Refresh Permissions, or exit and relaunch X Dispatch to refresh permissions to ensure changes are applied right away. 

How to Delete a Permission Set or Template

  1. Go to Maintenance Permissions.
  2. Right-click on the user you would like to delete and select Delete.

Alternate steps:

  1. Click the checkbox to the left of the user's name that you'd like to delete or select multiple if needed.
  2. Click the red trashcan button to delete .

How to View the Audit Log for a Permission Set or Template

To view changes that have been made to this permission set or template, click the Audit Log  button at the bottom of the permissions form. 

Section Functions

Customize Grid Layout 

You can customize which columns you would like to view and arrange the order by clicking the Edit Grid Layout icon 

Change View

Requires X Dispatch 19.1 or newer.

You can switch between a table view and a card view by clicking on the Card View icon  or Table View icon .

Zooming Settings

Requires X Dispatch 21.0 or newer.

You can zoom in or out of Next Dispatch pages in X Dispatch by right clicking on the page (other than on a card or table) and selecting Zoom In or Zoom Out, or use the Ctrl + or Ctrl - keys. 

Select

Use the checkbox at the beginning of each row, or at the top of each card, to select multiple records. 

Quick Tip

No more than 2 windows can be open or edited at a time.

Right click on a row or card to view right click menu options.

Permissions Form

Use the Filter search to easily find permissions, or click Toggle All to check or uncheck all permissions.

  

Click the documentation icon  to view documentation related to the section that the permission applies to.

Permissions forThe user ID, or username, that the permissions are for.
Inherit Permissions From

Allows a user to inherit permissions from a template or an existing user. 

Users who inherit permissions from a template or another user have an identical set of permissions. If a change is needed, edit the parent template and those changes are seen in all users who inherit those permissions. To remove inheritance and create an individual user setting, click "Inherit Permissions From" button, and select the blank option at the top of the drop-down selection.

Setting Inherit Permissions From will remove any record of previous permissions for this user. 

Web Access
Password

Password for all web services. For example X Tracking and the API. 

Confirm Password

Update permissions by checking boxes for functions the user needs to access, and unchecking boxes for functions the user cannot access. To view, select, or deselect permissions for the users, click on the plus sign next to each section to expand the view and drill into each permission category.

  • Always Start at Home URL - Left blank in order to conserve resources.
  • X Dispatch Functions - These function permissions are for the On-Demand section in X Dispatch.
  • Allowed Fleets - The selected Fleet(s) that the user has access to. 
  • Visual Dispatch - Permission to access the Visual Dispatch Board. 
  • Route Functions - These function permissions are for the X Route section of X Dispatch. 
  • X Stream - This is an area that holds data for integrations, posting, and mappings. By unchecking this permission, a user will not be able to access the X Stream tab. Permissions in this section should be enabled for technical staff only to ensure crucial settings are not accidentally disabled or changed.
  • Maintenance Functions -  These function permissions include sections in the Maintenance Section of X Dispatch, excluding Business Units and Fleets, which have separate permissions settings. 
  • Allowed Custom Procedures - The selected custom procedures that the user has access to. 
  • Business Units - Permissions for the Business Units section of X Dispatch. If a new business unit is created, all users will need to have their permissions updated with the new business unit.
  • Fleets - Permissions for the user to add/edit Fleets in the Maintenance Section of X Dispatch. 
  • Actions - Permissions for actions performed from the Action menu in X Dispatch menu bar.
  • Tools - Permissions for actions performed from the Tools menu in X Dispatch menu bar.
  • Reports - Permissions for actions performed from the Reports menu in X Dispatch menu bar, as well as report and find features.
  • Allowed Query Groups - The selected query groups that this user has access to view/perform in the Find Tool. 
  • User Preferences - Permissions for user preferences.
