Setting a Coordinate Priority

Distance variance between two addresses can cause inconsistency in the pricing of Orders.  Using the Coordinate Priority sets a return order's distance equal to that of the outward leg's distance, so a return order will not have a different distance from the original order.

Setting the Coordinate Priority is a global setting that is applied to any order created through X Dispatch and X Internet.  The setting is applied upon order creation, order distance recalculation and bulk order updating when the Recalculate Distance option is selected.

This setting does NOT apply to order Continuation.

Setting a Coordinate Priority:
  • Navigate Tools > Address and Distance Options.

  • Set Coordinate Priority to anything other than Standard.
  • Save to close the form.

Examples

To better understand the use of Coordinate Priority in action the below examples are provided:

  • If the original order (125000.00) is updated for any reason, it requires a manual update of the return order to update the distance. This does NOT happen in the background automatically.
  • Manual updates that are made to the original order (125000.00), do not automatically affect orders linked to the original (125000.01, 125000.02, etc).
  • Upon creation, any additional return order (125000.02, 125000.03) continues to use the same distance as the original outbound leg (Order) (125000.00).
  • The distance used for a round trip order is equal to the distance used on the outward leg's First or Original order.  Any return order uses the same distance as the original order.  For example: OrderID 125000.00 is 5 miles. A return order of 125000.01 is 5 miles, even if the distance calculation method would have returned something different
  • When set to North, the Northernmost address of the two address points on the order is used as the origin when calculating distance. This guarantees that distances is always the same in both directions.  The system uses the Southernmost, Easternmost, and Westernmost address as origin when the corresponding selection is set.
