Using the Database Backup Configuration Tool
In X Dispatch you can set up the backups for your data base by using the Database Backup Configuration tool.
Open X Dispatch click on tools -> Database Backups -> Configuration.
This will bring up the Database Backup Configuration form. Install the Database backup service by clicking on the piece of paper with the check mark.
If you have any SQL jobs running to back up your database you will be prompted with the following message click OK. If SQL is backing up your data base using a SQL Job have your IT person stop the SQL job that is backing up the database.
You will need to enter a username, this user must have administrative rights on the database. Once you have entered the user click OK.
Next you will be prompted to enter the password for this user, once you have entered the password click OK.
Once the service has been successfully installed you will need to enter the path where the backups will go. Example path would be as follows, "C:cxtbackupsMWF.bak" without quotes. Make sure that the file name ends in .bak. This path is where your backups will be saved, this can be set up to go to any drive or fold depending on the set up of your system. Below is an example set up, on the bottom left you will set the time you want your daily backup to run as well as the interval you would like the differentials to run. Once you have setup all the fields click save.
Next you will need to run your first backup, click on the run database backup now icon. You will see in the bottom left corner that the backup status will now say Running.
Once is is done check to make sure that the backup file is now in the directory path you specified for that day. Once you have confirmed that the backups have run, and saved to the directory you specified your backups should run daily at the time specified, and your differentials should run at the interval you specified. Please note to check regularly that your database backups are running properly and that your differential backups are working correctly as well. Database backups are not the responsibility of CXT software, and should be checked regularly by your IT person.
